* Erosion Bundle ...
Disappointment reigns this morning! I opened my EROSION BUNDLE. After three months of hanging in a tree in the blazing Mexican sun, helped along by regular soakings with the hose .... NOTHING! The outside velvet didn't even fade where I had tied it, which is what I had hoped for. If I ironed the paper inside, you would probably never know it had been through any kind of a trauma. There is a little rusting action on some of the material from contact with the metal. I am SOOOOooooo disappointed. Perhaps I will wrap it back up and put it in the fountain for a month and see what happens.

Hi Donna - here is a tip I found out by accident! When you sent me the wonderful package of ephemera I was so excited and of course I wanted to share it with everyone who came over. i had everything on the kitchen counter and then a glass of water spilled and we didn't realize that the water had made it across the counter and soaked some of the ephemera until the next day! I was very sad to see the lacy tissue papers and the little tissue paper decoration had all bled out but they were the only thing actually ruined. Everything else had gotten wet and some of the dyes had run onto them, but they just look more distressed! So maybe put some coloured tissue into your bundle and add water. Cheers!
Oh dear, what a disappointment. It is probably just too hot and dry. Perhaps you could put some vegetable or fruit peelings into it? Sorry that you have to start again, I was looking forward to seeing the altered things. Hope the rest of your day was good, Hugs, Valerie
Thanks for dropping by U2 .. and thanks for the great idea Rhonda. I have a package of paper cuts here - I'm going to wrap the erosion bundle up again, put the paper cuts, some chili pepper and parsley in and put it in the fountain for a bit. See what happens.
Oh Donna, now you know what not to do I guess. Many of the participants from last year were disappointed in their reveals too. My tip: get the maximum exposure to the elements. Not tied up or covered up too much!
Hi Chris .... Ahhh! We live and learn don't we! My bundle was swapped up so tight not even a worm could have gotten in! As you suggested, I'm sure that's a big part of it. It's soaking in the fountain now - held down by rocks - another couple of weeks and I will try again. Thanks so much for stopping by. It will be another SURPRISE.
after my bundles had been outside for several months i put them in my daughters little pool for an hour or two and then tossed them around the yard a bit, let them dry and then opened them up. it also helps to have some colored papers that will bleed mixed into the bundle. hope that helps!
ugh! my bundle was UN-eroded too.
I had the opposite problem with mine last year. It got wet (living in a very soggy England) and a small piece of purple paper I had added dyed everything bright pink! So be careful what you wish for!

Just wanted to thank you all for your recent comments. The 'second time around' my erosion bundle did spent over one month in a fountain totally submerged! The rainy season is about to begin here in Mexico, I just might try another one where it would get more of a mixed bag of elements. Thanks for dropping by. Much appreciated. Donna
Bury it. But don't leave it buried too long, or bugs will get to it. A few chewed holes are nice, but not when they eat the entire thing.
