The first sketch/block in is always a little scary. It's going to be OK, honest. |
RESTLESS! You know those days when you really want to get into something, become engaged and productive, loose track of time. I open all the drawers, take stuff out that appeals, put it back because I don't know what to do with it, try and sort things out, organize the studio so it works better, soon give up on that (if only I had those big envelopes from Office Depot I could make files), I pace the floor, straightening the cover on the sewing machine. Finally I pack it in, walk out of the studio, go downstairs, and do the same thing all over again. That's been me for a little while now. Thought it was perhaps the effects of the full moon and it could be.
The other day I sat down to make post cards. Yes, I said to myself, just make a few different ones, photocopy them and keep them on hand. They'll be nice when you don't have time to write a long letter. Well, this was the result of that brain wave. When you are restless and something doesn't turn out to your satisfaction, it seems twice as bad. Today I attempted Halloween tags. Huuummmmph! Into the bin they went. Who decided purple was a Halloween colour anyway? May tomorrow be a better day. :o)
I'm just listening to the theme from Schindler's List. It breaks my heart every time I listen to it, and somehow it fills me with such joy and love, I can't stop listening to it. It's the violin. It speaks to every cell in my body. It's from a thirty-seven track album called Classical Heartbreakers, all of which I adore.
Well my darlin's, thanks so much for coming by for a visit and leaving your delicious comments. Art for art's sake! xoxo Donna
“My soul is impatient with itself, as with a bothersome child; its restlessness keeps growing and is forever the same. Everything interests me, but nothing holds me. I attend to everything, dreaming all the while. […]. I'm two, and both keep their distance — Siamese twins that aren't attached.”

Nice to have you back in the creative swing. :) Love the added birds.
Can't wait to see the finished painting. You do such beautiful artwork. hope you have a great creative week.
FREEDOM... how lovely. White doves mean so much to us; we have them painted and fired on the tile above our fireplace.
It is so fun to watch your progress as you create these gorgeous canvases.
Altered books...I had totally forgotten about the pages I did in your book. Yes, we were beginners and pages stuck together as we learned the proper techniques. It was a very fun group but my treasure is not the books but the friendships, especially YOU, Donna.
I'm still not up with the blogger changes or reading blogs and I dislike the fact that I can't make changes directly from my blog. There has to be a way that I haven't found yet.
Hugs,
C
Shes not scary at all Donna, I can see your vision and she will be beautiful! Love the doves.
Great idea making some post cards and photo copying them, I'm going to do that!
Got your message on my blog. I tried the phone # thing ,they sent it to me and it still wouldn't work. I'm pulling my hair out as the emails I'm sure are stacking up in my mailbox. GRRRRRR
hugs Lynn
I read your blog...almost all the pages. What I love most about you is your honest way of writing, your readiness to try and not be afraid to try. I love the strength and spirit in you!
Hey, I have flying dreams too...sensation of rising above, floating weightlessly in the air..at times it scares me!
You have a new follower in me!
FREEDOM is how i will be soon. And I see the same vision in your woman. the other Donna (love)
Donna, I continue to be amazed at how these paintings work their way into your soul and come out through your brush... truly an inspiration. I have tried to follow your lead with my new work and let it flow intuitively. I really love that!! Can't wait to see the progress. We will be on the road for a bit, but I will try to at least follow how this painting unfolds even if I can't comment.
Hugs, Patty
I think your painting will be great when it is finished, as all the others were, too! Hugs, Valerie
Even though you just began it, the painting is expressive already. The doves are a wonderful element and I love their placement- front and center. The wandering through your studio.. yes, I do that kind of thing sometimes, too. I feel scattered, going in a number of directions but not accomplishing what I think I want to. It all comes right in the end though.
