* Bits and Buttons & Sketchbook Project 2012

For those of you who are interested, information of The Sketchbook Project 2012 is HERE.  I know some of you were involved last year.  I would love to hear from you.  So many questions.  I'm thinking about making the commitment this year.  For those of you not familiar with this massive traveling sketchbook project, read about it by clicking on the above link.

Experimenting with old bone buttons and bits.  Most of the 'bits' on the bracelet are harvested from vintage jewelry. Some old garnets I have made into hanging charms, a couple of turquoise lucite balls, and vintage costume pearls   The verdict is still out.  Not sure whether I like it or not.  It's still a work in progress.  There are several things to be added and a couple to be changed around.  No clasps .. ha ha.  Didn't order any.

It's Saturday.  Have a wonderful weekend.  Thanks for coming to see me .. I do adore your company.

Hi Donna,
Yup. I did the sketchbook project 2011 and it was a wonderful experience for me. The idea itself is outstanding -there are now 10,000 sketchbooks on tour out of over 28,000 requests for a sketchbook. My journal is now one of the ones "on tour" and I am planning on traveling a few hours north in July to see ALL the sketchbooks when they visit Winter Haven, Florida.

Filling up the Art House Co-op sketchbook was the first time I really did an art journal on any regular basis. It got me to see how cool that was and probably how important for me as an artist it was to have an art journal to work in!

Art House Co-op provides the opportunity for you to interact on line with other artists and showcase your work on the art house co-op site too. I plan to do the project again in 2012, I just have not picked a theme. You can see all of my pages in the last post I wrote about the project; Click Here!
I would highly recommend doing the 2012 project. It truly motivated me. ; ^ ) lenna

Hi Everyone - Valerie, I sent you an email on the Sketchbook project, however, Lenna has left a link here to her work. You may like to have a look.

Lenna, thanks so much for the synopsis of the sketchbook project - I'm going to look at your work. Amazing project ... don't you just love the people who think these things up? Like the "1000 Journals"! That really fascinates me.

Cindy .. I love it that you came to visit. Thank you! Your sites are amazing.

Jane ... You might want to look at Lenna's link as well. It will give all of us a better idea of what's involved.

Nice to see you here ... always an honour to have your company .. xxoo

Thank you, donna! They used to have the art that was done for the sketchbook project 2011 up on the art house co-op site, but since they are revamping the website it is not there at the moment. So I thought you (or your readers) might like to look at another artists' sketchbook, as everyone has a different style and approach. This link will take you to all the posts tagged with 'Sketchbook project' for my friend, Frieda Quilter. The first 2 posts may just be a mention of the project I think, but then you can really see Frieda's style and approach.

Some participants drew or painted. Frieda and I did collage I would say, with a bit of fabric thrown in. I know some artists took the sketchbook apart and re-did the paper . . some made a big folding piece . . . some people's pages were sparse, other's were very full . . . I liked that you could make it "your own". there were only a few sensible rules!!
happy arting, lenna ; ^ )

Hi Lenna .. I've had a look on Google at the 'images' .. everything exists, so I don't think I would feel restricted in any way. Did you choose a theme or did you go with 'untitled'. I've still got to go and check out your link .. I'll go now, and ask more sensible questions later. Thanks for dropping by and giving us all this information. So valuable. Donna

Donna, I just saw this . . . last year I chose "This is not a sketchbook" as my theme (they provide = you pick) and that was great fun, good for me & the type of art I filled it with. This year I am entertaining these themes they have provided: *Encyclopedia of, *I remember you, *Untitled, *The companion books, *A path through the trees, or *Stitches and Folds. I believe Frieda has chosen *Monochromatic. I think whatever theme you choose for the sketchbook project will be good, but I really want to choose something that will inspire me! waving from Florida! ; ^ ) lenna
