A very quick block in ...

When you're down and troubled and you need a helping hand and nothing, whoa, nothing is going right. Close your eyes and think of me and soon I will be there to brighten up even your darkest nights.

You just call out my name, and you know where ever I am I'll come running to see you again. Winter, spring, summer, or fall, all you have to do is call and I'll be there, yeah, yeah, you've got a
friend.

James Taylor's famous song, "You've Got a Friend".  And he's right, we all require someone to love and support us in our lowest moments.  My question, and the question that these women in the painting put to me today is this.  "Does it always have to be a man?"  They are right!  Women are very good listeners, very good at coming to your aid when in difficulty, and of course we could not do without our dearest women friends.  Then why are we so afraid to touch each other?  Why are we so afraid to put our arms around each other and just let the love flow, the support flow,  Everyone needs touch.  With so many women alone these days, especially as we age, sometimes days go by without even a touch on the arm.  This needs to change.  Comfort and support through touch is one of the needs of women and it's simply not there.  I have no trouble holding another woman, if indeed she is open to it.  It seems to have always come natural to me.  Nothing sexual about it.  Just sheer love and support.  Think about it, 'cause we desperately need touch to survive.  It's part of a good quality of life.  I'll leave you with that thought.  This painting came through me yesterday - just a very rough block in with corrections still visible.

Some people don't like to be touched.  I miss it terribly.  Honour what the other person needs and wants, but please, don't be afraid of it.

Thanks for dropping by.  It's a beautiful day here today, so I hope you enjoyed the sangria on the covered terrace while you watched the hummingbirds.  Drop by again soon.  Love seeing you here and reading your beautiful comments.

We need four hugs a day for survival. We need eight hugs a day for maintenance. We need twelve hugs a day for growth. Virginia Satir

I totally am with you on this. Now that my kids are grown, weeks, if not months go by without a touch. It grieves me so, because touch is my strongest love language.

I love how you always speak from your heart Donna. I was raised in a home without much show of affection, but as an adult I have always welcomed my friends with hugs. I showered my kids with hugs growing up (still do) and told them how important they are. I know how much I need them and I love to share them. Hugs actually release a feel good chemical in our brains. Your painting is beautiful, wish I could send you a hug! ~Diane
