It's a hard job, but somebody has to do it. I've tested two more types of bubbly. Considering Henkeltrocken is the only name I recognize here, unless we hit the 'good stuff', I've tested pretty much the entire lot with mixed results. The other day I spied a brand from Argentina. Considering they make some fairly decent wine I decided to give it a try.
CRAP! Absolutely. Very sweet even though it is labeled 'brut'. No more of that. It was $198.00 pesos which converts to about $16.00 Cdn. Would not buy it again.
The I spied Cooks. Made in the California. Have never seen it in Canada. At a price of $86.00 pesos ($7.00 Cdn) it was priced very reasonably. Real cork! A good intentional, vivacious pop. Nice bubbles. AND ... the best taste for me yet. It could be dryer. Still, the best of what I have tried. The decision has been made. Research in this department is closed. Cooks it is for celebrations at Quinta de Luz.
For all of you in the US - hope you had a great long weekend. Happy 4th.
